Our factory was founded in 1922. It was originally operated by the businessman Lu Peizhi and was sold to Xu Keming in 1928. In 1933, the Land Bank of China was the owner of the debitio which was then rented to the Meifeng cotton mill. In 1937, it was appropriated as military control by the Japanese aggressors and designated for naval clothing factory specializing in weaving military blankets. In 1943, the military control was lifted and the factory was purchased by the Japanese businessman Shozo Tokusin and changed its name as Mingfeng cotton mill. In September 1945, the factory was taken over by the Economy Ministry and renamed as the 18th Shanghai cotton mill, expanding cotton spinning equipment and mainly producing cotton yarn, thread and operating the sideline in cotton blanket. It was renamed as the 18th Shanghai state-owned cotton mill at the liberation of Shanghai. At the end of 1955 and early 1956, its spindles were purchased by the Seventh Shanghai cotton mill and it specialized in blanket.
In 1972, when U.S. President Nixon first visit in China, the mill’s brand “Phoenix” was redesigned as a political task and registered according to the instructions of the municipal government, and the “Phoenix” blankets were presented to U.S. President Nixon as officiating gifts, from which the “Phoenix” blankets enjoyed reputation and were popular at home and abroad. In September 1978, according to the instructions of senior bureau, the production of cotton blanket was delegated to the Nanhui commune plant. Our factory went with the first phase project of Shanghai Jinshan Petrochemical and specialized acrylic fibre blankets and wool blankets. Our factory was renamed as Shanghai blanket factory.
On October 8, 2002, with the respective 50% investment of Shanghai Longtou Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Phoenix Decoration Co., Ltd, Shanghai blanket factory was restructured as Shanghai Phoenix Blanket Co., Ltd. Shanghai Phoenix Blanket Co., Ltd. acquired and continued to use the trademark "Phoenix".
